Does Anyway jot cost anything?
No. Anyway jot is free. There is no account to create, no advertising, and no features held back behind a paywall.
What are the system requirements?
Anyway jot runs on macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later, on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
Where are my notes stored?
In the location you choose the first time you open the app — your Documents folder, for example, or any other folder you prefer. You can change it later in the app's settings, and when you do, you can choose whether to move your existing notes to the new location.
Can Anyway jot open existing .txt files?
Yes, provided the filename matches the naming scheme Anyway jot uses (yyyy-MM-dd-N.txt, optionally followed by _title). The extension does not have to be .txt: files such as .md or .log open as plain text, without formatting.
How do I back up my notes?
Copy the folder your notes are stored in. Because each note is saved as an ordinary text file, no export step is required, and the folder can be included in Time Machine or any other backup tool.
Will uninstalling the app delete my notes?
If you selected an external folder (Documents, for example) when you first launched the app, your notes are not deleted and remain in that folder. If you chose to keep notes inside the app, they may be removed along with it, so we recommend using an external folder for long-term storage.
Can I use Markdown?
You can type Markdown syntax, but it is never rendered as headings or bold text, and there is no preview. Files with the .md extension open as plain text, like any other note.
Is there a Windows or iOS version?
Anyway jot is available for macOS only. There are no plans for other platforms at this time.
